Privacy Policy

Riders Compass · Last updated: 3 September 2026

The short version

Riders Compass has no account, no server of its own, no analytics and no advertising. Your trips, rides, profile and garage are stored only on your phone. The app talks to a handful of services to do its job, the map provider of your platform (Apple Maps on iPhone, Google Maps on Android) and Open-Meteo, and sends them nothing but the coordinates and place names needed to answer your request.

Location

With your permission, Riders Compass uses your location to:

Location is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone except as described below. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your phone's settings; the app keeps working with places you type in.

What is sent where

Maps. Place names you type, and the coordinates of your start, stops and destination, are sent to the map provider to return search results, directions and points of interest. On iPhone this is Apple Maps (MapKit); on Android it is Google Maps Platform. Their handling of this data is described in Apple's and Google's privacy policies.

Open-Meteo. The coordinates of points along your route are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch the weather forecast and elevation for those points. No identifier, account or device information accompanies the request. Open-Meteo is an open-source weather service; its data is provided under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

OpenStreetMap (Overpass API). With Premium and camera warnings switched on, the area around your route, or around your position while the Ride screen is open, is sent to a public OpenStreetMap query server to fetch fixed speed cameras and average-speed checks. Camera data is © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Nothing is sent in countries where such warnings are not permitted.

Fuel price feeds. In France (data.economie.gouv.fr), Austria (E-Control) and Germany (Tankerkönig, MTS-K data), the coordinates of a fuel stop or of your position on the Explore screen are sent to the official price service to list nearby stations and prices.

All requests are answered in real time and nothing about them is retained by the developer, who has no server that sees them.

What stays on your device

Saved trips, recorded rides, your profile, emergency contact, motorcycles and settings are stored in the app's own storage on your phone and are included in your device backup like any other app data. Delete any trip or ride inside the app, or delete the app, to remove them.

Purchases

Premium is an auto-renewing subscription handled entirely by the App Store on iPhone and by Google Play on Android. The store tells the app whether the subscription is active; the developer never sees your name, payment details or store account.

Children

Riders Compass is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
